Match Report | Final preparations for the league season saw Boots take on Chesterfield. A typical pre-season encounter with plenty of attacking hockey and with Boots dominating possession more than the score board a 5-4 win was pleasing. Boots were ahead early and maintained their advantage for much of the game, Chesterfield made the most of their limited possession to peg back the scoreline and make for an entertaining game. Despite winning Boots were not happy with the sytle of play in what was a messy game overall, but another win sees them wrap up a strong pre-season which started back in the summer. Captain, Adam Innocent reflected after the game - "We have had a strong pre-season although we didn't nail the process today we are happy win another win as we build towards the start of the League. Everyone in the group has stepped up their levels knowing that we face a challenge having secured promotion last year. We'll get through some hard work in Training on Tuesday and arrive at Sutton Coldfield in confident mood". Goal scorer Rich Mearns concluded - "Personally it was nice to score today but the lads were really trying to get the win today for new signing Dammo. All of our games in the last few weeks seem to be against an ex-club of one of our players, this week it was Dammo so we wanted to make sure we got the win". |
