Match Report |
Boots faced a tough game against an Ex-National League side, Northampton Saints, this weekend, with the aim of a repeat performance of last week’s victory. Early in the first half, the Saints’ young goalkeeper made some excellent saves to prevent Boots from scoring. Several penalty corners were awarded to Boots, but they were unable to make the most of them, even with an aspiring Christine Cullen drag flicker on the team (Kirsty Macleod). The Saints were not having this problem down at the other end of the pitch. Just before half time, the Saints scored from a penalty corner, leaving the score at 1-0 to the Saints.
Boots came out with determination in the second half, which eventually paid off with an equalising goal from Becky Simms who was unmarked lingering at the top of the D. Unfortunately; this draw did not last long. The Saints put another goal away from a penalty corner by a flying rebound in the last minutes of the game. Boots did not make the most of the opportunities they had and were unable to pull back another goal. The game ended 2-1 to the Saints. Up next are Boots arch-rivals, Beeston.
