Match Report | An epic game for all the right reasons! Boots started the stronger of the teams and took a 2 goal lead after 20 minutes of play courtesy of a Gaz Caron brace. It took some fine saves from the young Beeston goalkeeper keep his team in the game; however a well taken backhand shot from Jack Reyes widened the gap between the teams and for a 3-0 lead at the halftime break. If Boots had the edge in the first half, it was Beeston who came to the fore after the break. Within 15 minutes for the restart they had narrowed the gap to 3-2, some fine passing and circle play restoring parity. The final 10 minutes were not for the faint hearted, Jake Duke-Parker supported an attack from halfback and arrived in the circle to despatch a firm slap hit into the Beeston goal to restore a 4-3 lead for Boots. The scoring was not complete however and as Beeston pushed on, the equaliser came with 5 minutes to go. A draw in the end a fair result for the endeavour shown by both teams. The standard of play from the youngsters on both sides was impressive and the future of hockey at both clubs looks to be in good shape for many years to come. |
