Our 1st league game saw us come across local rivals Sikh Union Nottingham and were well aware of their new accusitions and after a very good pre-season, we felt prepared and ready. Sikh Union within the first few minutes got their first attack, that led to a short corner drag flick that went into the top corner and there was not much we could of done about it (maybe prevented the PC!!) We didn't drop our heads and our Polish superstar (Lukasz) went on one of his mazy runs and got round the back to only slip/dive/get taken out, which gave us a stroke. Mr Composure O'Flaherty stepped up to slot the penalty and we were back on level terms. That didn't stop Sikh Union and with their direct counter attack hockey they had scored two goals, in no time. Credit to the guys, our heads never went down and we won a succession of penalty corners and with Sikh Union old boy Manny pulled a goal back with a low drag flick/push. Confidence was again lifted but as half time was approaching that confidence was again quashed by a lucky Union goal and they led 4-2 at half time. 

The second half started well as we knew we could get back into the game and the goal came through a deflection from Manny. Again, we were back in the game but only to let the Unions to retain their 2 goal advantage. Another succession of Penalty Corners came our way (and yellow cards to the opposition!) and Manny's intended pass for a deflection was missed by Pooley and also by the Union keeper and the ball went through the keepers legs for Manny's hatrick (Thanks Steve Poole!) But as the game continued so did the usual story of the game of Sikh Union regaining their two goal lead and adding one more to their total to end the game 7-4 to them. 

Funny moment - Hollis and Pirate running into each other and then having a mini argument whilst one of them took the ball!
