Boots 2 v 1 Leicester

Scorers - Lukasz, James Cameron Williams

YES! We finally got those 3 points!!

The game started quite evenly with Leicester's forwards playing very high up the pitch and moving well off the ball, interchanging with each other in all areas up the pitch. We were doing well to cope with their movement and we limited them to tough chances and ambitious through balls. It needed something special to break our defence and it came with a rocket shot from the right of the D, flying past Tango Keith into the top corner. As always with Boots, we never let that affect our confidence and our chance came with Jim O' Flaherty picking up the ball inside their half and laying off a pass to our Polish superstar Lukasz, who turned on the engines of his Poznan Express train and flew past their defenders and round their keeper to flick it into the top corner. Back in the game!

Second half began and Boots started well, keeping the ball and transferring it from left to right, whilst forwards began to making the leads and things were beginning to work for us and we created chances and penalty corners where their keeper kept them in it with a couple of good saves. Leicester then had their spell of pressure and there was a lot of close calls, with goal line clearences/misses and some top saves from Keith, that kept the score at 1-1. With the umpires signalling 2 minutes left, we were slowly pressing up the pitch and keeping the ball to create a chance. That came when Phil Short, played the ball into the D to a sober Quags, who cleverly let the ball go through to Manny who had led behind him, who saw the keeper go down and played the ball across to Jim O Flaherty who missed the ball, but the ball kept rolling to Fonts who was steaming in from the left to pick the ball and flick the ball into an open net that sent the Boots players and crowd into utter jubilation and euphoria. There was still time for Quags to get a yellow card for not retreating 5 yards and it was game over when that free hit was played into Manny's reverse stick who reversed it to the other end of the pitch for a Leicester 16. With 5 seconds or so left, wild screams for a half court press, utterly confused Chris Read, luckily the whistle went. Victory sealed!

Funny moment - Jim O F thinking he had missed the ultimate chance and standing in the goal in disappointment only for Manny to spot Fonts running in and shouting at Jim to get out of the goal...nearly got in the head still!

Finally, we won and Keith got a round, it worked this week!! Bring on Melton!!
