Boots 3 v 3 Melton

Scorers - Oscar 2, James Cameron Williams

Another Saturday, another point!

Boots started well and pressed high up the pitch, putting early pressure on Melton (as requested by Coach Rhodes). The opposition then settled into the game and it then became quite even between two good hockey playing sides. Melton got the first breakthrough through an expected short corner routine but as we knew we were playing well, our heads as always stayed up and we continued to press all over the pitch. This paid off as we equalised through another smooth James Cameron Williams goal (in his preffered shooting end!) after a great ball into the D by Oscar that caused a scramble. We continued our momentum and we got a second after Manny slipped in Chris Read who attacked the D with pace and created a chance for Oscar to slip it past the keeper to make it 2-1. However, as half time time approached, Melton got their second with a quick shot that caught out Keith who was caught doing the Tango on the line as he continues his preparations for Strictly auditions!!

The second half began evenly with both sides having good spells of possession but neither team creating a goal scoring opportunity. Midway through the second half, Steve Firth (who's that I hear you ask...aka Pirate) throws a long and high ariel behind Melton's defence for Lukasz to run onto and with the keeper coming out he slipped a pass across to Oscar who dived at full stretch to reverse stick it into an open net, however at the last minute a Melton defender slid across to get a stick on the shot and deflect it out for a long corner. That really pumped Melton up and a few minutes later they scored a good reverse stick shot. But that didn't stop us playing our game and we began working our way up the pitch, pushing them deeper into their own half. Our chance arrived when Nick Boddy passed the ball to Manny on the baseline, who slipped the ball across the keeper for Oscar to grab his second of the game and Boots equaliser, to the delight of the Boots crowd! There was still time for Melton to grab a short corner at the final whistle but we defended it well and the game ended 3-3.

Next up...Chesterfield away!
