Match Report

Boots were slow out of the blocks today, nearly going a goal down in the first minute, were it not for a bit of persuasion for the L'bro umpire to see the foot en route to the goal. However, we weathered the early storm and took the lead thanks for Mark Wakeling pouncing on the defender's error. We then started to gain more composure and started passing the ball better, leading to a second goal, scored by Max Darlison, who cleverly deflected the ball past an unwitting keeper. Despite a few hairy moments (including a goal-line clearance by skipper Brian Thompson), we kept up the pressure until half time, and were feeling confident of getting the win.

The second half was much more even, with both teams playing counter-attacking hockey. Boots probed forwards, but failed to make the keeper work, only winning the one short corner. L'bro were throwing more peoploe forward, attackign i numbers, and they broke through after about 15 mins played in the second half. For rest of the half, neither team kept the ball well, meaning it was end-to-end hockey, but with L'bro in the ascendency. It looked like Boots would hold out for the win, but unfortunatley a rare keeping error lead to a late equaliser, and the points were shared.

On a more positive note though, Boots had scored their first goals of the season from open play, and are undefeated two weeks in a row, with high hopes of continuing the unbeaten record next week.
