Match Report | Once more a match which was dropped points. Boots created plenty of chances in both the first and second half, in a game we dominated, but conceded on the counter and failed to convert up front. We took the lead through a fantastic bit of play. Early passing from Kyle at right back, using Jim C in the middle to get it to Jimmy G wide right, and corssed in for Hughsey to score a rare goal at the far post. However we concended not long after through a short corner, and after hitting the woodwork a couple of times and the keepers pads several times, it stayed 1-1 at half time. The second half was a similar story, although Burton took the lead on the counter. We had more of the play in their half of the pitch though, but again just couldn't get the finish our play deserved. We kept pushing though and equalised with 10 mins to go, Jonty playing it in from the edge of the D, with the ball somehow finding it way past everyone and into the goal. We had a late short corner to try and win it, but unfortuantely the move didn't pay off. Burton threatened with a short corner of their own, beating lewis in goal and Kyle at the near post, only for MOTM Brian to clear it off the line. Burton then countered quickly again, and even a diving/falling Mike Vipond couldn't keep it out. We showed some great play, but need to focus on converting our chances in our next game, against Beeston. |
