Boots Hockey Club - Coaches Wanted!

Boots HC are entering an exciting development phase … Over the last 20 years the club has grown from strength to strength, and has grown its membership considerably, with 6 womens teams, 7 men’s teams and an incredibly successful Junior Academy boasting over 140 junior members
We’re in the process of reviewing our strategy, to create a 5, 10 and 15 year development pathway for our club, that will look at our growing our membership, improving our facilities, creating player pathways into the game etc..
Key to this is our focus on player pathways our club’s presence in the top flight of hockey - across our men and women’s teams. For our juniors, we want to see more of our young players reaching the regional/national development programmes.
A key area for focus in the short term is to bring stability to our coaching set up, especially in our womens’ performance squad – to help us deliver our key objectives for the immediate season ahead, through to 2020.
We’re really keen to talk to the following coaches and experienced top flight National League players who might be keen to move into a coaching role…
Lead Performance Coaches:
Who can create an intensive and pressurised training environment to encourage the development of effective decision makers and highly skilled players who can help achieve our goals for 2018 – 2020
We are looking for effective, dynamic and engaging people to join us who can:
- Help us develop and deliver an excellent programme of hockey in line with the club’s vision and strategic aims
- Be able to lead the overall technical and tactical development of our womens’ performance squad and be the lead and give focus to our womens’ performance squad in training and match day competition settings.
- Can help support our club in the player pathway development programme and help improve our player selection and management policies
- Help support our club coaches at various stages of development and to ensure that a consistent approach to coaching is created at our club, working with our existing lead in the men’s performance squad
- Can help our CMT implement a developmental culture that enhances individual player development, facilitates learning and gives players a strong sense of individual and collective (team) responsibility
- Bring empathy and compassion into the role, be exceptional at player management and be effective on and off the pitch
Your appointment will be key in helping us to maintain our current pool of great players, and to attract and recruit excellent hockey players and keepers in our region.
This role will also work more broadly on raising standards and opportunities for hockey at the club and also link in with our junior academy and England hockey support
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced hockey coaches, or players from the top flight who would like to bring their experience, skills and know how to our club - with a passion for hockey and a proven track record of delivering high quality hockey coaching to further enhance and shape the future of hockey at our club
The successful candidate must be available to for training sessions on a Wednesday evening 7.30pm – 9.30pm and possibly fitness sessions too, and ideally be able to coach/manage the squad on Saturday at home and away games.
Qualifications
Safeguarding & Protecting Children course attendance (or willingness to attend)
Enhanced DBS check
Desirable
Level 2/3 Hockey Coaching Qualification, or incredible experience in National League Hockey/International
First Aid Certificate
Equity in your Coaching course attendance
The successful candidate(s) will be hired on a fixed term (self-employed) consultancy basis at rates negotiated based on experience, qualification and level of commitment. They will not be employed by the club and should make their own arrangements for tax and National Insurance.
