A pretty good weekend of hockey because as far as am aware, no-one needed stitches! On the less grizzly side, we had a mixed bag of a weekend. It seems I’m not a lucky charm, as after saying how well some teams were doing a few results didn’t go our way. However, the Ladies 1s earnt another point on Sunday and face their nearest league rivals Doncaster on Saturday. The Ladies 2s still lie joint 2nd in their league, and will be taking on 1st place on Saturday so a win would take them top. Despite drawing at the weekend, Ladies 4s are still top with a game in hand which is the same position the Mens 3s find themself in after winning (again!)

This weekend is definitely a super Saturday, with the Ladies 1s, 2s, 3s and Mens 1s, 3s and 6s at home! The ladies 3s kick off the action with a cup game vs local rivals Monarchs. The Ladies 2s follow playing top of the league Derby Asterdale, and I’ve heard they are always a feisty bunch. A win for the ladies 1s against Doncaster would take them off the foot of the table, and after two consecutive draws it is definitely a possibility. In the afternoon the Mens 1s take on Derwent (did we mention that the mens 1s old coach now coaches Derwent…), league leaders Mens 3s take on an unpredictable Warwick Uni and the Mens 6s close with another derby game vs Nottingham. The ladies 4s and 5s have slip games thanks to the cup, so I expect to see many faces down at the Bay to support and I’m pretty sure all teams will appreciate the support on the sideline (I love it…especially when cakes are on sale – thank you ladies 4s!!).

In case that wasn’t enough hockey, on Sunday we have 3 games – the Juniors at 10am, an intraclub Boots Mixed game at 1130 and at 130pm Boots Mens Veterans take on Lichfield in the Over 40s cup.
