Supporters Wanted!
Posted by Nobody on 27 March 2014
As the season draws to a close for most of us (indeed, for some it has already finished) we have some key games that I'm sure the teams involved in would appreciate a bit of support for.
First off are the ladies' 2nd team who are at home, 10.30 start, against third placed Ashbourne knowing a win will clinch the league title and promotion to Midlands Division 2 after a fantastic season so far. If you're able to get down to the Bay, please come & cheer them on.
They'll be followed on the pitch by the men's 3rd team who are themselves celebrating promotion achieved last week.
A bit further afield, the men's 4th team face their seemingly annual trip to Leek in a bid to avoid relegation (at Beeston's expense!). Looking at the goal difference advantage they have, a point (or Beeston failing to win at West Bridgford) should do it. If anyone's around the Staffordshire area, or fancies a day out, I'm sure the boys would love a bit of support - Brian can no doubt tell you the time & place.
Finally, stretching the distance even further, the ladies' 1st team have clearly enjoyed their first National League season so much that they've extended it by a couple of matches. After a very challenging season, with some great performances but not a great deal of luck, it all comes down to a 'round-robin' tournament with Boots and the 9th placed teams in the East and West Conferences over the next three weekends - winner stays up. Boots kick things off with a trip to Barnes HC in London (W4 2SH) this Saturday, so if anyone's already finished playing for the season and wants an excuse for a cheeky weekend in London, why not pop along & cheer them on? I'm sure Andy or Karen can let anyone know what time the game is.
Our ladies then have a week off whilst Barnes (West) head to Chelmsford (East) before Chelmsford visit the Bay on SUNDAY 13 APRIL. Stick it in your diaries & make plans to get down to the Bay & give them your support.
Good luck to everyone involved - thanks for a great season so far & thanks to everyone who has been to support any of our teams during the year.
