Super Duper Saturday!
A pretty good weekend of hockey because as far as am aware, no-one needed stitches! On the less grizzly side, we had a mixed bag of a weekend.

Saturday 7th November
My fixtures secretary skills are going downhill...last weekend some teams won, including our mens 1s and ladies 5s for their first wins of the season! Other teams just keep winning, like the ladies 4s and mens 3s. Some teams lost, but I can't remember who... mixed won on sunday against monarchs, and the ladies 2s went down fighting against cannock in the cup (they are two leagues higher!) And unluckily conceeded to a goal of the oppositions back and foot. Happy hockey!

What goes "Oob, oob!"?
Thanks to all those who came to New Joiners on Saturday; I hope you all had a good night! The next social to put in your diary is the club day on Sunday 17th November, which will have some junior sessions, a Ladies 1s league game and other activities! We did manage to play all the games this weekend (yay!) after storm St Jude decided not to visit Nottingham. We have not only 4 games at home on Saturday, but 4 games on Sunday! Hopefully, the mixed team will get their first game played (after the great ladybay flood of a fortnight ago), but we also have juniors, a mens 5s league game and the Ladies 2s taking on Cannock in the cup. Last time they played a team in Cannock’s league (Mids Prem), it went to flicks (although we don’t like to talk about what happened then…) Happy Halloween but don’t eat tooo many sweets (or at least save a few for half time, or your umpires). Good luck!

Where's Noah when you need him...
Firstly, this Saturday is NEW JOINERS! 7pm in the Test Match, West Bridgford. We want to see everyone there; current and new members for the first Boots club social of the year! In terms of hockey, a flooded pitch and the first round of cancelled games in October aren’t ways to keep a fixtures secretary happy. Or Graham (mens 5s) captain when his game had to be abandoned at 42 minutes with them leading. Hopefully, the pitch will survive until to Saturday for this week’s league games. Ladies 3s to 5s have a weekend off (enjoy half term!), but the other games are listed below. The Ladies 1s will attempt to replay their cup game this Sunday (pitch … please do your job!). Happy hockey all!

What's happening this weekend?
It wasn’t the best of weekend for results last week, with 7 losses to 2 wins and draw but this is a new week! Notable performances include the ladies 4s winning 5-0 (again…for the 4th time in a row), and our new harry potter lookalike Mr Tibbetts who managed to get a cool head injury within the first 10 minutes of his game. Congratulations also go to Louisa from the 5s who successfully completed her level 1 coaching badge J This weekend, we have a full 6 games at home, including the Ladies 1s and Mens 1s. The teams really appreciate your support, so get down if you can! On Sunday, the Mixed team make their debut for the season against Raleigh, followed by the Ladies 1s in a cup game vs Conference West Buckingham. All games are listed below…

October be upon us!
It’s October, the weather's meant to be getting colder and there’s plenty of hockey hockey hockey! Last weekend, the club saw 4 wins, 1 draw and 4 defeats. Six teams are currently undefeated....so let's see if that continues next week. Ladies 4s win the prize for scoring the most goals on Saturday, with 5 netted against West Bridgford 3s (although Manny Soar did get a hat-trick against Sikh Union in the Mens 1s defeat). However, on Sunday the Ladies 1s surpassed that when they played Barford Tigers in the First XI cup, and scored a massive twenty-one goals with no reply. They've drawn national league Buckingham in the next round. There are 10 league games this weekend, with just the Mens 1s having a blank week. Games are listed below…

Super Saturday at the Bay!
On Saturday our men’s teams kick off their respective league campaigns (well, except the Mens 2s who have a Blank week to start!). Last weekend our ladies section saw 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 victory as a result of a team pulling out of the league pre-season! This weekend is the equivalent to the London 2012 Olympic stadium when 3 GB golds were won in the space of an hour…ish.

KIT ORDERS
Please note that lead times for kit orders are approximately 1 to 2 weeks from the end of the week you place an order. Frog Island Sport will contact you when it is ready for collection, or send it to you if you don't fancy the trip to Leicester ... but they are having to deal with multiple calls/emails from people enquiring when their kit is ready which is slowing the process down!
